Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic test that evaluates the electrical activity of muscles using a very small, sterile needle electrode. The needle is gently inserted into selected muscles to assess how they function at rest and during muscle contraction.

Nerve Conduction Studies

Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) is a diagnostic test that measures how well and how quickly electrical signals travel through your peripheral nerves. During the test, small electrodes are placed on the skin over specific nerves and muscles. Brief, low-level electrical impulses are delivered to stimulate the nerve, and the resulting responses are recorded.

A nerve ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of peripheral nerves and the surrounding soft tissues. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not use radiation. This examination allows your provider to evaluate the size, shape, and appearance of nerves and identify abnormalities such as nerve enlargement, compression, swelling, scarring, masses, or other structural changes.
